December, 2008 - Track Star is proud to be the supplier of GPS vehicle location products used in Gloucester Township, NJ school buses, used to enhance the safety and security of students and bus drivers.  The Track Star AVLS system, already installed in the Gloucester Township Police Department vehicles, has been added to the school bus fleet as a means of providing automated location information for both routine and emergency circumstances.  The Track Star AVLS software in the police department vehicles is configured to receive location information and alerts from the buses so that swift response to emergencies can be provided.  School officials derive benefit from both the routine tracking information as well as the emergency communications events.  This deployment was announced in a press conference held by Police Chief Ed Smith and was featured on CBS3 TV in Philadelphia.  Replay of that coverage is available here.

October, 2008 - In response to requests from our Law Enforcement customer base, Track Star has added a COVERT VEHICLE TRACKING device to the range of devices supported within the application.  Now, agencies can covertly attach a device to the underside of a vehicle and track the movements of that vehicle within the Track Star AVLS system.  The device attaches using high strength magnets integral to the unit.  Using built in rechargeable batteries and internal antennas, installation is as simple as placing the device on a metallic portion of the target vehicles undercarriage.  Small size and a dark color enclosure make for a low observability installation.  Of equal importance is the fact that the unique architecture of the Track Star AVLS system allows agencies to have documentable custody and control over the database containing the records of suspect vehicle movement making use of such data in an evidentiary capacity significantly easier.
